In Year 5/6 we begin our curriculum for the autumn term with a theme relating to the United Kingdom and British Isles. Children will be finding out about the physical and human features of the country, and exploring why visitors from overseas might come to Britain. Alongside this, in English lessons we will be exploring persuasive texts. Some of the key objectives we hope to cover include:

Welcome to the Year 5/6 page.  Pupils in Year 5/6  are in Azul, Morado and Rojo classes.

During Years 5 and 6, children are preparing for the assessments at the end of primary school and for the transition to secondary schooling. To support students in applying their learning in a range of contexts, English is taught alongside some of the foundation subjects, including Science, History and Geography. For these lessons we take a thematic approach that allows us to focus on a single topic over a number of lessons each week. The topics we will be teaching each year are shown here:

Cycle B (2019-20)

  • Anglo Saxons and Vikings
  • Visit Britain
  • Light and the Eye
  • Space
  • The Arrival (book study)
  • Boy in the Tower (book study)
  • Ancient Greeks 

Alongside this, all children will also have additional lessons in Reading, Mathematics, Spanish, PE, Art, Music and Computing.
