Foundation Stage
Welcome to the Foundation Stage page. This is Rainbow, Red and Green classes for children who are aged 3-5 years.
Children in the Foundation Stage build their skills, attitudes and dispositions which provide the foundations for positive life-long learning.
It is a very important stage as it helps your child get ready for school as well as preparing them for their future learning and successes. From when your child is born up until the age of 5, their early years experience should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; and support their development, care and learning needs. At Edgewood Primary School we enjoy working with children and their families to ensure achievement for all. We do this by allowing children time to play in a high quality and stimulating playful environment as well as working in small groups with an adult.
Homework Policy
If you make the time every day to do some of the following things with your child it will make a real difference to your child’s confidence as a young learner.
Rainbow class children are encouraged to share books at home, supporting their communication, language and personal and social development. Regular trips to the park and the local environment provoke conversation and interest.
Red and Green class children are sent home a reading book which they are expected to read at least 3 times per week. They also receive a phonics pack and a bingo to support their early reading. Each week we will send home suggested tasks based on other areas of the curriculum which all form part of our homework expectations.
If you have any queries or would like to visit our Foundation Stage please speak to a member of staff or contact the school office.
