Primary School Games

What a great day today! 16 children took part in the annual Primary Games, where the top 8 performing schools in Ashfield faced off in sporting competitions throughout the day.

Having qualified by finishing 4th in the primary medal table and gaining the 2nd highest medal haul overall, we looked forward to celebrating a fantastic year of sporting competition at Edgewood by competing with similar schools.

During the morning, the children took part in a range of activities. We had children rowing - over 1,250 metres in 6 minutes! Some children showed off their speed stacking skills and others got moving on the speed bounce.

After this, we went outside to compete in Tri-Golf, Hockey and Tag Rugby. We have been competitive in a range of activities this year and it was no different today!

  • Silver - Tri-Golf
  • Gold - Hockey
  • Joint Gold - Tag Rugby

These results left us in 1st place going into the afternoon!

The afternoon saw a range of athletics competitions take place. From javelin and standing long jump to relays, sprints and 300 metre runs, we stayed relatively competitive throughout. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to cling on to 1st place and we eventually ended the day in 2nd.

The children should be so proud of themselves today. They performed admirably throughout the differing weather conditions. 2nd place is a reward for all of the hard work that has been put in over the year by pupils, staff and parents. What a great way to finish a HUGELY successful year of sport at Edgewood! #teamedgewood
